About the Bursary

Queen’s Pre-Law Society and the Black Law Students’ Association (Queen's Chapter) have taken the initiative to establish the Cecil Allan Fraser Bursary, named in honour of Cecil Allan Fraser, who was the first Black student at the Queen’s University Faculty of Law. This bursary provides financial support to Black Canadian or visible minority  students in the JD program at the Queen’s University Faculty of Law.

Cecil excelled in his studies at Queen's Law and went on to work as a Senior Solicitor for the Federal Civil Service in Ottawa. In 1992, he was awarded the Commemorative Medal for the 125th Anniversary of the Confederation of Canada in recognition of his impact on his fellow citizens, to his community, and to Canada. Read more about his legacy here.
